Tips, Goeth & Etnyre Family Papers
For this project, we combined three small separately ascension archival collections located at the Austin History Center in Austin, Texas. During the Fall of 2016, we reprocessed the three groups of materials into one collection of 3.75 feet that documents the lives of three families related by marriage to Walter E. Tips, a prominent businessman and politician who settled in Austin, Texas in the late 1800s. The collection reveals an intimate picture of German American upper-class family life, and the family's role in city politics, business, and culture. This project included complete archival processing of this material from researching the family, development of the finding aid, addressing preservation concerns, erasing pencil item numbers from all individual pieces, and rehousing the collection.
